City of Elkins Holiday Schedule

City Hall will be closed on Monday September 1st 2014 in observance of Labor Day. The Sanitation Department will also be closed. Garbage normally picked up on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday September 2nd

Midland Ave. will be closed from Maple View St to Short St the City of Elkins is replacing a water line.

08.18.2014.  High Street, from Boundary Av to Court St, will be closed to "thru-traffic" off and on this week, August 18-22. Boundary Av and Court St will remain open. There will be flaggers.

 

08.18.2014.  The City of Elkins is currently working on its annual street paving program.  Contractors working for the City will begin milling selected streets this week (August 18, 2014) in preparation for the pavement.  Below is a list of the streets where work will be performed.  Drivers are urged to avoid these areas when possible during times when milling operations are underway.

LAVALETTE AV, from 16th St to 15th St; GUY ST, from Buffalo St to Fayette; MARTIN ST, from Gorman Av to Harrison Av; S GATE ROAD, from Scott Ford Rd to S Davis Av; INTERSECTION of 13th St and Henry Av; TENTH ST, from S Kerens Av to the alley; FOURTH ST, from the alley to Railroad Av; and DAVIS AV from HNB drive-thru to Jo-Jo's.

  

The LAST CURB-SIDE YARD WASTE PICK-UP for this year will be on Tuesday, September 2nd. Residents may, however, take their yard waste to the City's Waste Water Collection & Transmission department located at 31 Jones Drive during normal business hours - Mondays thru Fridays from 6:30 a.m. thru 2:30 p.m. year-round.

08.18.2014.  Water will be off in the area of Chestnut & Dowell Streets thru mid-afternoon today (Monday, August 18, 2014); the City of Elkins Water Distribution department is repairing a water line break.  

 

08.14.2014.  The City of Elkins Water Distribution department is working on a fire service line in the area of Wilson Lumber Company.  Water customers in and around this area may experience discolored water.  To clear the water, allow it to run in your bathtub or sink for 20-30 minutes; if your water isn’t clear after this, wait an hour and try it again.  Use caution before doing laundry, especially with light-colored items.  If your laundry becomes stained due to discolored water, you may contact the City of Elkins Water Department at 304-636-6566 or the Operations Division at 304-636-1414 to obtain a chemical to help remove the stains.
