The City of Elkins Waste Water Collection & Transmission department will be performing maintenance on sewer lines at the intersections of Randolph Ave & Gay St, as well as Harrison Ave & Pleasant Ave, on Sunday, July 27, 2014 beginning at 5:00 p.m.; during this time, there will be temporary lane closures.  Traffic is advised to avoid these intersections during this time if possible.

 

YARD WASTE PICK-UP will begin on Monday, April 14th.  Beginning in May, it will be held the FIRST Tuesday of each month through September.  2014 dates are as follows:  May 6, June 3, July 1, August 5, and September 2. 

 

Water Alert

07.25.2014.  The City of Elkins Water Distribution department is currently flushing water lines in 5th Ward; water lines in the areas outside of the city wards will be flushed following the completion of 5th Ward. This is being done in order to maintain clean, safe drinking water in the system and to comply with Health department regulations. During this time, customers may experience discolored water.  To clear the water, allow it to run in your bathtub or sink for 20-30 minutes; if your water isn’t clear after this, wait an hour and try it again.  Use caution before doing laundry, especially with light-colored items. If your laundry becomes stained due to discolored water you may contact the City of Elkins Water Department, located on Baxter Street (304-636-6566), or the City of Elkins Operations Division, located at 401 Davis Avenue (304-636-1414) to obtain a chemical to help remove the stains.  There are no Boil Water Advisories in effect at this time.
