Street Sweeper

To help keep our city looking as good as possible, the City of Elkins operates a street sweeper from late spring through early fall. We always announce the start and end dates of the street sweeper season on this website, via the city’s informational email list (subscribe using the form in the left sidebar of any page on this site), and on the city’s Facebook page.

During the street sweeper’s operating season, city police will ticket cars left on the street. Please download and review the 2019 Street Sweeper Schedule to learn when you will need to move your car. Notification of cancelled sweeper runs will be issued as needed and when time permits. However, when the sweeper route is cut short due to mechanical problems, changing weather conditions, operator emergencies or other factors beyond our control there is no possible way we can notify residents of individual streets or wards that the run has been cancelled. If we know the day before that the next day’s run will be cancelled, we will do our best to get notification out. We recommend that a better solution is to get in the habit of moving your vehicle on the appointed day and continue that practice until the end of sweeper season.
