Municipal Government Week

City Officials Celebrate Municipal Government Week

The third week in October of each year has been proclaimed Municipal Government Week in West Virginia. This year Municipal officials are recognizing the week of October 17-22, 2016 with activities in cities and towns across the state. The City of Elkins will host a variety of events to provide information and promote civic engagement. Some of the activities to look forward to include mock council meetings with area students in an effort to help students to become informed, responsible and involved citizens; a Fire Department open house; tours of the new water plant; council and committee meetings; and a City Exhibition highlighting city officials, employees and elected officials.

Municipalities are the level of government closest to the citizens they serve. From police and fire protection, to water & sewer services, cities provide services for a better quality of life in West Virginia. For more information check out the announcements posted at businesses around town, the City Facebook page, or contact Jessica Sutton, Elkins City Clerk, at jsutton@cityofelkinswv.com or 304-636-1414 x 1211.
