Davis Medical Center (DMC) has released a “toolkit” based on the best practices the hospital has developed for social distancing and safety of workers and patients.
DMC is now making its toolkit available to the community as a resource as restrictions on businesses are starting to be reduced.
The toolkit includes items such as signs showing proper handwashing techniques, log sheets for daily employee health screening and employee self-monitoring, and guidelines for preparing your workplace and the proper use of protective equipment.

The mayor and city council have released the following statement in response to the news concerning changes to plans for the 84th Mountain State Forest Festival:
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Directors of the Mountain State Forest Festival (MSFF) has announced modifications to its plans for the 2020 festival. These modifications include the elimination of the festival’s royal court and all related events and activities, including the Coronation, Distinguished Guest Dinner, Queen’s Ball, opening and closing ceremonies, and school tours. Elkins, W. Va., May 5, 2020: Elkins officials have cancelled the previously announced May 11 reopening of Elkins City Hall. Difficulty obtaining protective equipment was an important factor in the cancellation. Officials have not yet announced a new reopening date. (more…)

As you have probably heard, this week Governor Justice released a plan for the phased reopening of certain West Virginia businesses. You can read that plan here.
Per the governor, if the statewide cumulative percent of positive test results (available at Coronavirus.wv.gov) remains below 3 percent through the evening of Wednesday, April 29, “Week 2” of the governor’s reopening plan will commence Monday, May 4. The commencement of Week 2 (and, presumably, each subsequent phase of the reopening plan) will be announced by executive order from the governor’s office. (more…)

Governor Justice announced Friday that his office would release guidelines for reopening certain businesses early next week.
City officials have already been receiving questions from business owners about what guidelines and restrictions they may be required to operate under. Elkins Tree Board to Observe Arbor Day with Davis Street Park Planting
Elkins W. Va., April 23, 2020: Elkins, West Virginia was named a 2020 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. The Elkins Tree Board (ETB), which recently received two grants from the W. Va.
