City Hall News: Week of April 3, 2023

Meeting this week are council’s Finance Committee and the Elkins Water Board, which oversees the city’s water system. Council meets Thursday. Poll workers are needed for the upcoming city election.

The Finance Committee meets Monday at 10 a.m. to discuss employee health insurance in light of recent legislative changes to PEIA. There will also be consideration of a requested revision to the FY 2023 fire department budget.

On Tuesday at 9 a.m., the board of ballot commissioners will draw names to determine candidate order on the ballots for the June 13 city election. Candidates’ names cannot be listed in alphabetical order but must instead be listed in an order determined by random drawing.

Meeting Tuesday at 4 p.m., the Water Board will continue work on the PSC order concerning the Whitmer water system, review invoices, and consider a purchase of GIS equipment and a contract with the Region VII Planning and Development Council for GIS services.

Council meets Thursday at 7 p.m. The agenda may be adjusted through Thursday. Current items include the proposed reappointment of Carol Bush to the Water Board and a contract with the Region VII Planning and Development Council for GIS services.

Poll workers are needed for the 2023 city election. Election day is Tuesday, June 13, and poll workers must also attend training on the morning of Saturday, June 3. Contact the city clerk: suttonstokes@cityofelkinswv.com; 304-636-1414, ext. 1211.
