Meeting this week are council’s Municipal Properties Committee and ad hoc ARPA Advisory Committee. Also meeting are the Elkins Sanitary Board and the Elkins Parks and Recreation Commission. Council meets Thursday.

The Sanitary Board, which oversees the city’s sewer system, meets Monday at 10 a.m. In addition to reviewing financial information and requested budget revisions, the board will consider whether to absorb FY 2024 medical insurance premium increases or pass them along to employees; the proposed purchase of a truck and a roller from the Sanitation Department; the promotion of an employee to Class 1 Wastewater Operator; and projects for Phase III of the Long Term Control Plan (storm- and wastewater separation), to be discussed with representatives from Burgess & Niple.

Meeting Wednesday at 9 a.m., the Municipal Properties Committee will work on next steps for the Darden House, plans for maintenance of garden beds at city hall, a memorandum of understanding between the Kump Education Center and City of Elkins, and the requested use of city-owned real estate in Third Ward for public safety training.

The APRA Advisory Committee meets Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. to consider a funding request from Elkins Little League.

At its Wednesday 5 p.m. meeting, the Parks and Recreation Commission will hear presentations about plans for the Elkins Area Shared Trails bike skills park and Elkins Little League projects.

Council meets Thursday at 7 p.m. The agenda may be adjusted through Tuesday. Current items include the final reading of an ordinance establishing a tax increment financing (TIF) district in Elkins, reconsideration of council’s medical-insurance benefit, personnel policy changes, and an agreement with the W.
