Mission: The Elkins Police Department will provide public safety and maintain order while upholding the United States Constitution and the West Virginia Constitution.

About the department: The department consists of a police chief, 13 sworn law-enforcement officers, and two non-sworn administrative personnel.

Our principles: In everything we do, members of the Elkins Police Department pledge to follow these principles:

  • Integrity: We will always do what is morally, ethically, and legally correct—regardless of risk to ourselves.
  • Fairness: We will treat everyone we encounter impartially, without favoritism or bias.
  • Respect: We will accord everyone dignity and courtesy.
  • Professionalism: We will always deliver services that are of the highest quality, and we will take every opportunity to improve and further strengthen our ability to protect the public.
