Fireworks
City of Elkins encourages the safe, considerate enjoyment of fireworks. Certain restrictions apply.
City Laws
Elkins City Code prohibits “consumer fireworks.” Generally speaking, firecrackers, rockets, Roman candles, and other fireworks that fire into the air or explode are illegal inside city limits. Handheld products such as sparklers, or ground-based products such as fountains, snakes, and smoke bombs, are allowed.
Please Be Considerate of Your Neighbors
Please keep in mind that fireworks of any kind can trigger PTSD in affected people, especially at times when fireworks use may not be expected. Fireworks also frighten pets and can harm wildlife. The best practice is to reserve fireworks for Independence Day to minimize these effects.
Official Independence Day Fireworks Display
The annual Independence Day fireworks display in Elkins is presented by the Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce. The city helps fund this event but is not directly involved in planning it. Please contact the chamber with any questions.
