Steet Paving/Closure Updates

The Wastewater Collection Department will have a section of S. Davis Ave. shut down on Thursday (8/7/2025). The section closed will be from Ward Ave. to S. Gate Rd. The start of closure was at 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The reason for this closure is for a sanitary sewer manhole replacement.

On Thursday, August 7, the City of Elkins’ paving crew will be working at:

  • Lough from Harrison Ave. to W. Central.
  • Then, Riverview from Edgewater to Conaway.

Paving is expected to continue across Elkins through the week of August 11. We will do our best to update residents.

City employees will send a text alert Tuesday evening and will update residents on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ElkinsCityHall

This page has more information about how the City of Elkins manages paving our streets.

Notice about the City’s paving schedule

Providing advance notice of paving is notoriously difficult as the City’s paving contractor will often pick a certain area for one day but then just keep continuing the job as the weather is optimal and the week’s weather forecast could indicate sudden change.

Also, the contractor could move the date up suddenly with little notice given to the City; the contractor could see several days of good weather ahead and would rather complete the paving sooner than risk delaying it further because of rain or a drop in temperature.
