City Hall News: Week of July 20, 2025

Elkins, WV—July 20, 2025: For residents whose garbage is picked up on Thursdays and Fridays, the monthly bulk item pickup will occur on Thursday, July 24, and Friday, July 25. This is for ONE ITEM only, such as an appliance or piece of furniture. To schedule a Special Trash Pickup (truck-bed sized load or larger), at any time, please call 304.636.1414, ext. 1437.

For August 2025, the bulk item pickup (one large) item, such as an appliance or mattress) schedule is as follows:

Monday weekly trash pickup: Monday, August 4

Tuesday weekly trash pickup: Tuesday, August 12

Wednesday weekly trash pickup: Wednesday, August 20

Thursday weekly trash pickup: Thursday, August 28

Friday weekly trash pickup: Friday, August 29

*Friday’s bulk pickup will be one week later than the usual monthly schedule

The next City Council meeting will occur on Thursday, July 24, at 7:00 p.m. As of press time, the agenda has not been finalized. Check early next week for updates: https://cityofelkinswv.com/agenda-center/.

The next Sanitary Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. at the Phil Gainer Community Center. Items of new business include a Davis Avenue Bridge utility agreement; discussion of additional job positions in the wastewater department; and approval of sewer invoices. The City’s wastewater chief operator will also give a report.

City Hall remains closed to the public for renovation and repairs until further notice. All departments are operating and available for service as usual, but in-person appointments will require advance arrangements. All City meetings occur at the Phil Gainer Community Center (142 Robert E. Lee Ave. Extension) in Elkins unless otherwise stated.
