City Hall Closed Due to Sewage Backup

Elkins W. Va., September 24, 2024: City Hall remains closed to the public until further notice. All City Hall departments will be working remotely and available by phone or email, although responses may be delayed.

The Treasury Department and Utility Billing have resumed normal operations at their new location, 10 11th St., Suite 3. Residents and customers can visit between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Bills can be paid online, at the drop-off box behind City Hall, in person, or by mail. All mail should still be addressed to 401 Davis Ave., Elkins, WV 26241.

The Municipal Court is awaiting to be moved into their new location soon. In the meantime, please email rharper@cityofelkinswv.com for appointments, information, or questions.

Utility payments, court payment plans, and issue citations can be made by mail, using our drop-off box, or by paying online. The drop-off box is located in the parking lot behind City Hall located at 401 Davis Ave., Elkins, West Virginia, 26241.

When dropping off your payment, make sure to include the correct information. If information is missing, it may delay the processing of the payment.

For help with utility services, please contact the Water Department at (681) 298-5200 or the Wastewater Department at (304) 636-2058.

Utility bills and in-city fire fees are due September 18.

The Municipal Court will be operating out of the Phil Gainer Community Center located at 142 Robert E Lee Ave. Ext., Elkins, West Virginia, 26241. Municipal Court will be open September 16th through the 19th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. For questions and issues regarding the Municipal Court, please email rharper@cityofelkinswv.com.

Elkins W. Va., September 1, 2024: Elkins City Hall will be closed on Tuesday due to a large-scale sewage backup that has caused significant damage in multiple workspaces and public areas.

Recovery work, which is already underway, is expected to be extensive and will require relocation of offices and personnel. The closure may be extended.

City officials will release updated information, including new procedures for contacting city staff during this disruption, as soon as possible. If you need to pay a utility bill or fee, you may do so online by visiting www.cityofelkinswv.com/online-payments.
