Open Vacancies for Elkins’ Boards and Commissions
Elkins W. Va., December 19, 2023: The City of Elkins invites civic-minded citizens to actively participate in shaping the city’s future by volunteering to serve on boards and commissions.
Under state and city laws, there are certain areas of responsibility that fall not under city council but under the authority of various boards and commissions. The citizen volunteers who serve on these bodies play a crucial role in managing and designing key city policies and projects, and your help is needed.
We are seeking dedicated individuals for the following boards:
Building Commission: Reviews and selects financing packages for the acquisition of city real estate or for bond issuance thereon.
Tree Board: Serve as an advisory body on urban forestry, contributing to a greener, more sustainable city environment.
This is more than a call for volunteers; it’s an invitation to be part of something bigger. If you have the passion to serve your community and the drive to make a difference, we encourage you to apply.

Interested citizens can submit their application to the City Clerk’s office. Applications will be kept on file for two years, and candidates will be contacted if a relevant vacancy arises.
