Elkins City Hall News: Week of March 18, 2024

Elkins W. Va., March 15, 2024: The Sanitary Board, the Water Board, and City Council meet the week of March 18.

The Sanitary Board meets Monday at 10:00 a.m. Items on the agenda include: discussion of replacement/repair of water sewer lines in the City of Elkins; discussion of Wastewater Collection storage building bids; approval of sewer invoices; funding of FY 2025 Employee Health Savings Accounts; reimbursement request for sewage backup at 1506 Lavalette Ave.; and discussion of Due Diligence Proposal from WV American Water.

The Sanitary Board and Water Board meets Monday at 4:00 p.m. Items on the agenda include a presentation and discussion of engineering agreements for proposed water and sewer projects.

City Council meets Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The agenda may be adjusted through Tuesday. Items on the agenda include: proposed FY 2025 General Fund Budget; elimination of a no-parking zone in front of the former T-Mart; and terms of a lease with the Tygart Hotel for reserved loading/unloading on Davis Ave.

Utility bills and fire fee bills were mailed out February 29 and are due March 19.

The Police Department is hiring and will offer entry-level testing on March 30. Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on March 22, and applicants must be between the ages of 18-45 on the day of testing.

The Planning Commission is asking for input from citizens for its 2025 Comprehensive Plan, which will shape the future of the City of Elkins. Topics include land use, transportation, health, business, parks & recreation, tourism, amenities, jobs, and more.
