Vacant Property Registration

Owners of vacant properties are charged annual fees as follows. Please note that the fee is based on number of years vacant, regardless of changes in ownership. However, number of years vacant is counted from the date of registration.

In addition, the City, in an effort to secure and preserve the public’s safety as it relates to vacant or open buildings, adopted Ordinance 227.

• Less than 1 year: $0
• 1 year: $200
• 2 years: $400
• 3 years: $600
• 4 years: $800
• 5 years: $1,600
• More than five years: $1,600 + $300 for each year more than five years (e.g., a property vacant for seven years would incur a charge of $2,200, or $1,600 + $300 + $300)
