City Hall News: Week of December 11, 2023

Elkins W. Va., December 8, 2023: The Municipal Properties Committee, the Finance Committee, the City of Elkins Water Board, and the Planning Commission will meet the week of December 11.

The Municipal Properties Committee meets Monday at 11:00 a.m. Items on the agenda include: public hearing and discussion on a petition of Coca Cola Consolidated, Inc. to abandon a portion of an opened alley near Eleventh Street (known as Coke Lane); discussion of the Veterans Memorial and Park, including permission to apply to DOH for right-of-way access for Gold Star Memorial; new round of public bidding for the Sanitation Department garage; City Hall security improvements; Streetscape planning; and updates on the Darden House.

The Finance Committee meets Monday at 1:00 p.m. Items on the agenda include: budget revisions; Tax refund request from Altice; new round of public bidding for the Sanitation Department garage; City Hall security improvements; creation of a new position in the Treasurer’s Department; and leasing of two vehicles for Operations and City Hall.

The City of Elkins Water Board meets Monday at 4:00 p.m. Items on the agenda include: PSC Order concerning Whitmer Water System; discussion on the need to appoint a Vice Chair in the absence of the Chair; update on water and sewer line replacement in Elkins; Leadsville agreement; Water Board invoices; funding for the Eminent Domain case for the Leadsville Booster Station property; and proposal to the board to grant half-day holiday on December 22 and 29.

The Planning Commission will have a special meeting Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. to consider making a zoning recommendation for an un-zoned parcel near North 12th Street.

The Planning Commission will have its regular meeting Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The agenda may be adjusted through Tuesday. Items on the agenda include updates to the Comprehensive Plan.

Utility bills and in-city fire fees are due December 19.
