City Hall News: Week of February 7, 2022
Meeting this week are council’s Finance Committee, Rules & Ordinances Committee, and Personnel Committee.
The Finance Committee meets Monday at 10 a.m. on an agenda that includes consideration of a grant application by the Elkins Fire Department; equipment payoffs in various city departments; yard waste recycling expense; the sale of disused police vehicles; an HVAC system for the Treasurer’s Department; and the purchase of a server. The committee will also consider proposed budget revisions.
Meeting Wednesday at 9 a.m., the Rules & Ordinances Committee will review a proposed ordinance regulating parking in city alleys.
Also on Wednesday, the city’s hearing before the West Virginia Municipal Home Rule Board will reconvene after adjourning for staff review of questions raised by board members.
The Personnel Committee meets Thursday at noon to continue work on the matter of supplemental pay for temporarily assigned duties.
City officials and staff will host a press conference at the Davis Avenue Bridge on Friday at 3 p.m. The purpose is to share information concerning the need to repair or replace this bridge and the availability of funding to do so as a result of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill’s Bridge Formula Program. The public is welcome to attend.
