Elkins City Hall News: Week of May 6, 2024

Elkins W. Va., May 3, 2024: The Personnel Committee, the Rules & Ordinances Committee, the Elkins Tree Board, the Police Civil Service Commission, and the Planning Commission meet the week of May 6.

The Personnel Committee meets Monday at 1:00 p.m. Items on the agenda include a discussion of the EFD organizational chart/staffing policy and discussion of proposed updates to the personnel manual.

The Rules & Ordinances Committee meets Monday at 3:30 p.m. to consider a revised policy for use of the downtown sound system.

The Elkins Tree Board meets Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Items on the agenda include fundraising updates: how to honor donors; Arbor Day follow-up; DOF Equitree Grant 2024; discussion of downtown trees; discussion of June workday; and consideration of a tree guard purchase.

The Police Civil Service Commission meets Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. to consider an application for reinstatement by a past EPD officer.

The Planning Commission meets Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The agenda may be adjusted through Tuesday. Items on the agenda include ongoing work to update the comprehensive plan; a proposal to add clinics to uses allowed in the Industrial District; and a proposal to reconsider height limits on accessory buildings.

Utility shut offs are scheduled for May 7. Please pay past due amounts by May 6 to avoid disruption in your service. Utility bills and in-city fire fees were mailed out April 30 and are due May 20.

The 2024 street sweeper season began on April 8. Tickets will be issued for street-sweeper parking violations starting Monday.
