Elkins City Hall News: Week of November 4, 2024
Elkins W. Va., November 1, 2024: City Hall remains closed to the public until further notice. All City Hall departments will be working remotely and will be available by phone and email, although responses may be delayed.

Election Day (November 5) is observed as a holiday by the City of Elkins. Trash will run on the usual schedule, but other departments will be closed for the day.
The Elkins Police Department is hiring for Police Patrolman, with Civil Service Testing on November 16. For more information, please visit www.cityofelkinswv.com/employment-opportunities
Utility bills & in city fire fees were mailed out October 31 and are due November 19. Utility shut offs for unpaid bills are scheduled for November 6.
Utility payments, court payment plans, and issue citations can be made by mail, in-person, using our drop-off box, or by paying online. The drop-off box is in the parking lot behind City Hall located at 401 Davis Ave., Elkins, West Virginia, 26241.
When dropping off your payment, make sure to include the correct information. If information is missing, it may delay the processing of the payment.

The Public Safety Committee meets on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Items on the agenda include discussion of pedestrian crossing safety near The Arts Center.
The Personnel Committee meets on Monday at 1:00 p.m. Items on the agenda include updates and consideration of next steps concerning HR Director vacancy and reappointment of the City Clerk.
The Rules & Ordinances Committee meets on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Items on the agenda include discussion of rules for the City Hall parking lot and parking permits for downtown residents.
City Council meets Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The agenda may be adjusted through Tuesday. Items on the agenda include authorization of expenditures related to the City Hall HVAC project; changes to the city’s floodplain ordinance; a proposed cybersecurity policy; and an update concerning the WV PSC’s order that Elkins assume responsibility for the Whitmer Public Water System.

Leaf collection season began October 7. Pickup happens in the heavier areas of the city first, and the Street Department will then proceed to go street by street, ward by ward to collect leaves.
