Elkins City Hall News: Week of October 14, 2024

Elkins W. Va., October 11, 2024: City Hall remains closed to the public until further notice. All City Hall departments will be working remotely and will be available by phone and email, although responses may be delayed.

The Elkins Police Department is moving into their new location next to City Hall. To report non-emergency information, please contact the Elkins Police Department at 304-636-0678 or email elkinspolicetips@cityofelkinswv.com. For emergencies, please call 911.

The Elkins Police Department is hiring for Police Patrolman, with Civil Service Testing on November 16. For more information, please visit www.cityofelkinswv.com/employment-opportunities.

The Treasurer and Utility Departments have resumed normal operations at their new location located at 10 11th St., Suite 3. Residents and customers can visit between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mail should still be addressed to 401 Davis Ave., Elkins, West Virginia, 26241.

Utility bills and in city fire fees are due October 21. 3rd quarter B&O taxes are due October 31.

The Municipal Court has officially moved into their new location, behind City Hall, located at 401 Davis Ave., Elkins, West Virginia, 26241.

Utility payments, court payment plans, and issue citations can be made by mail, in-person, using our drop-off box, or by paying online. The drop-off box is located in the parking lot behind City Hall located at 401 Davis Ave., Elkins, West Virginia, 26241.

When dropping off your payment, make sure to include the correct information. If information is missing, it may delay the processing of the payment.

The Rules & Ordinances Committee meets on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Items on the agenda include discussion of Admin Officers ordinance; discussion of the cybersecurity policy; and consideration of changes to the floodplain ordinance.

Leaf collection season began October 7. Pickup happens in the heavier areas of the city first, and the Street Department will then proceed to go street by street, ward by ward to collect leaves.

Residential Halloween trick-or-treating will be observed on October 31 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
